This EBPC webinar explains how Directive (EU) 2024/825 - Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition (ECGT) - reshapes the rules on environmental claims for the balloon and party products industry. It is aimed at manufacturers, distributors and retailers across EU markets.

How the Directive amends the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive (2005/29/EC) and the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU).
The ban on generic environmental claims not backed by recognised excellent environmental performance.
Restrictions on self-declared sustainability labels and offset-based 'carbon/climate neutral' claims.
New durability and repair information requirements and the harmonised guarantee notice.
Key dates - transposition by 27 March 2026 and application from 27 September 2026, including existing stock.
How to manage existing stock 'placed on the market'.
Industry claim verdicts
Practical guidance on 'biodegradable/compostable', 'reusable' and '100% natural rubber latex' claims, and on the natural-rubber-latex badge, with the corrective steps needed to reduce greenwashing risk.
